in Olinda/Recife...

as usual... am outta time... but just updatin that I am in Recife/Olinda :) And that all is good. :)
-----
so, here is the update while the pix are uploading... first... thanks to Xavi for the pix! :) As most of you know, I am back to regular & disposable cameras... so, it'll be a while before I can post some pix. I am looking for a place where they can develop straight to CD.
Anyways, Carnaval has now ended and the change in the cities (Olinda & Recife) is incredible. There was only one demographic that existed during Carnaval... the wild 'n crazy and young (and the ones at heart). The sense of normalcy (?)is truely frightning! Take the largest nightclub you know and imagine going there for one of the best parties you've ever been to and then go there again but now its daytime and an office space! It feels something like that. It feels good to relax again.
Having said that Carnaval in Recife (by night) and Olinda (by day) was wild 'n crazy... its still not as intense as Salvador. There's a little more (not a lot) of a family feel here... while Salvador was a mass of sweat, hormones and energy.
I think I had the perfect combination of 4 days in Salvador and then 3 days of relatively relaxed Carnaval in Olinda/Recife. Relatively relaxed doesn't mean more sleep but less jumping and dancing in smaller crowds (where I actually could scratch my nose if so desired!). The concept of personal space is non-existant in Carnaval, especially in Salvador and especially if you're a beautiful woman. The whole kissing thing is a whole other post!
Oh... the blocos in Salvador that I was in were... Rappazzola, Jammil and Timbalada
Timbalada was the best with some really solid African beats... and I had problems walking for two days as we danced solid for over 7 hours!!!! Imagine going to a party but not in your party clothes... you buy your t-shirt (which is your ticket) and you wear running shoes (stupid me only had my sandals, and boy did I pay the price!), shorts and many even had their CAmelback waterpacks... but something told me that they did not have water in it!
well, I gotta go... the pictures should be post soon... check the posts below for the link! LOVE TO ALL! :)
